The Secret Ingredient

"Being who you are is the most vulnerable thing you can do." - Kristin Price

In the fall I was visiting with my parents and an ad came on TV for a new lottery where you'd win $1000 per week for life. My dad asked me, "if you won that, what would you do?" Without hesitation I said I would be doing exactly this: writing a food & lifestyle blog to inspire people in nourishing connections to themselves, others and nature.

In that moment I realized how grateful I am for being able to do this work, and how grateful I am for giving myself permission to follow my heart.

But don't think that means that I have it all figured out.

I wish I could say it's perfectly clear and I'm two feet in and skipping down the street loving my life 100% of the time, but that would be a lie and just further perpetuate these impossible ideals many of us set up for ourselves based on comparing ourselves to others.

I've fought doing this left, right and centre.

"There are way more important things to be doing with your time" my inner critic says.

"But if you are going to do this, you better figure out what the BEST thing I can write to totally transform their life in one sentence is."

I have an (unrealistic) pressure on myself to be this combination of Elizabeth Gilbert, Oprah, Brene Brown, and a wise elder spoken flawlessly where people totally resonate with what I say and have breakthroughs in their life.

So it was a pretty huge weight off my shoulder to just tell you what I was trying to do rather than do it, and also my goal is actually to grow the expression of my voice - not try and be the best of what I see in others.

What you'll find here is a mix of my power, heart, and passion with a garnish of imperfection and served with authenticity.

What I believe about this world is that if we all actually say what we mean rather than trying to present a well crafted image of ourselves, we'd have a lot less stress, disconnection, and loneliness and whole lot more love, energy and joy.

When we take all those masks off and have the confidence, self worth and drive, we can radically change how this world works because we aren't afraid of failing, we're energized and have cultivated the time for curiosity that leads to innovation.

Each and every person in this world has their own strengths and purpose in life, and instead of trying to fit a mould that someone said you should be, capitalize on what you're good at. The first and foremost piece of that is discovering who you are.

My strengths are in partnership, holding space for deep conversations and hearing and seeing you for who you truly are so can shine your brilliance in the world. That is why I have built this space.

There are so many people in the world telling you who to be and how to act, and this is a place where you get to make that call. You are the one that knows the answers about yourself. You are the expert in your life.

The secret ingredient is you.

What measures our happiness, quality and meaning in life isn't the things, it's allowing ourselves to be exactly who we are and accepting and love ourselves for everything we are and are not. Then, go and be that in the world and see the magic that happens.
